Design with a purpose

Winner of two coveted tall building awards, Doha Tower is a striking example of visually stunning, yet functional design.

The building owner’s vision was to combine advanced technology and engineering with breathtaking cultural design. Doha Tower incorporates the latest in elevator technology with KONE’s regenerative drives systems and advanced destination control systems.

Fusing culture with design

French architect Jean Nouvel captured both a modern and classic arabesque context in the domed tower.

The same spirit of design runs throughout the building’s interior. We created eight custom-designed scenic elevators set in a semi-circle to serve the large atrium of the building.

To achieve such a high degree of customization, we invited the customer to our factory in Finland to review the various prototype stages. Three-dimensional renderings were also provided to visually assess the relationship between the hoistway and the structural elements of the skyscraper.

When passengers step into an elevator, they are immediately wowed by a stylish interior that connects culture, contemporary design and the latest elevator technology.

"The finishes of an elevator interior should be an extension of the building itself", reflects Hafid Rakem, Architect Partner for Ateliers Jean Nouvel.
